The BJP General Secretary Tarun Chugh, responsible for Jammu and Kashmir, and the head of the Jammu and Kashmiri unit, Ravinder Raina, welcomed them to the party.
Rana campaigned for the Jammu Declaration – a joint declaration by several political, social and business organizations that calls for the restoration of statehood for the Jammu region and not for the entire Jammu and Kashmir region.
In 2019, the center lifted the special status of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir and divided it into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
