NEW DELHI: The car wholesaling in India fell by 13 percent to 2,19,421 units last month, the auto industry organization SIAM announced on Friday.
Car sales in December 2020 were 2,52,998 units.
According to the latest data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), sales of two-wheelers also fell 11 percent to 6/10,062 units, compared to 11,27,917 vehicles in December 2020.
Sales of motorcycles fell by 2 percent to 7,26,587 units, compared to 7,44,237 units in December 2020. Sales of scooters also fell by 24 percent to 2,46,080 units compared to 3,23,757 vehicles in the previous year.
In the period from October to December of this financial year, car sales fell by 15 percent to 7,61,124 units from 8.97,908 units in the same period of the previous year.
Sales of two-wheelers fell 25 percent to 35.98.299 units in the December quarter, compared with 47.82.110 units in the same period last year.
However, commercial vehicle sales increased slightly to 1.94.712 units in the reporting quarter compared to 1.93.034 units in the period October-December 2020.
Cross-class vehicle sales fell by 22 percent year-on-year to 46.36.549 units from 59.46.283 units in the third quarter.
