TMC MP Nusrat Jahan: Marriage with Nikhil Jain not legal, our separation happened long back | India News

NEW DELHI: TMC MP Nusrat Jahan said on Wednesday that her marriage to Nikhil Jain was not legal and that they had been separated for some time.
“Since it is on foreign land according to the Turkish marriage ordinance, the ceremony is invalid. Since it was also an interfaith marriage, it requires validation under the Special Marriage Act in India, which was not done. According to the court, it is not a marriage, but a relationship or cohabitation. So the question of a divorce does not arise, “said the TMC MP in a statement.
“It’s been a long time since we split up, but I didn’t talk about it because I wanted to keep my private life to myself,” she said.
Here is the full text of their statement:
“1. Since it is located on foreign land according to the Turkish marriage ordinance, the ceremony is invalid. Since it was also an interfaith marriage, it requires validation according to the special marriage law in India, which has not taken place. According to the court, it is not a marriage, but a relationship or a civil partnership, so the question of divorce does not arise, our separation was a long time ago, but I did not talk about it because I wanted to keep my private life to myself “Separation” may be challenged by the media or someone I am not related to. The alleged marriage is not legal, valid and tenable, and therefore was not a marriage at all in the eye of the law.
2. My visit to any place for business or personal reasons should not affect anyone I have split up with. All my expenses have always been borne by me, contrary to what “someone” claims.
3. I would also like to explain that from day one I have only borne the costs of my sister’s education and the well-being of my family, as they are my responsibility. I don’t have to use or keep someone else’s credit card that I’m no longer related to. This can also be supported by evidence.
4. The one who claims to be “rich” and “used by me” has withdrawn money from my account by illegally and illegally accessing my bank accounts at odd hours of the night, even after the breakup . I have already taken note of this to the responsible banking supervisory authority and a police complaint is due to be submitted shortly.
“In the past, all family accounts were given to him at his request, and none of me or my family members knew of any instructions given to the bank about our accounts. He also removed my funds from various accounts without my knowledge and consent, I am still arguing with the bank & would publish evidence for it if necessary.
5. My belongings, including my clothes, bags and accessories, also remain with them. It is with discouragement and disappointment that I find that all of my family jewelry that was given to me by my parents, friends and extended family, including my hard-earned fortune, has been illegally withheld by them.
6. To be “rich” does not always give a man in this society the right to act as a victim and to belittle the woman alone.
I have created my own identity through my hard work; Hence, I wouldn’t allow anyone unrelated to me to share the spotlight or a title or follower based on my identity.
7. I would never talk about my personal life or anyone I am not related to. Therefore, people who call themselves “normal people” are not allowed to entertain anything that has nothing to do with them. I would like to ask the media to refrain from interviewing the wrong person who has not been part of my life for long. To turn a “Sadaharon” person into a “hero” as claimed by someone, to tell one-sided stories to slander my image, is undesirable. I sincerely ask my friends in the media not to give unnecessary miles to such people or situations. Thank you, Nusrat Jahan. “
