NEW DELHI: The Union Civil Service Commission (UPSC) has decided to include interviews for the 2020 civil servant examination from August 2nd, postponed due to an increase in Covid-19 cases, according to an official statement.
The civil servant examination is conducted annually by the UPSC in three stages – preliminary, main and personality test (interview) – to select officials of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Field Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.
It had postponed interviews for the prestigious exam in April this year due to the increase in coronavirus cases.
“After examining the situation, the commission decided to start the personality test of the civil servant examination 2020 on August 2nd, 2021,” says the UPSC statement.
The electronic summons for personality tests (interviews) of the candidates will be made available shortly and can be downloaded from the Commission’s website www.upsc.gov.in and www.upsconline.in, it said.
“Usually no request is made to change the date and time of the personality test (interview) that is communicated to candidates,” the commission said.
Based on the results of the 2020 Civil Service Examination announced by the UPSC on March 23 this year, the Commission has decided to start the personality tests (interviews) of the 2020 Civil Service Examination from April 26.
“Due to the unprecedented increase in the number of people infected with the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) nationwide, the Commission for the Public Service of the Union has postponed the personality test of the civil servant examination 2020 as a precaution, which should start at the beginning of 2020 from April 26th, 2020 “, it says in the message.
